We’re thrilled to announce the release of Checkmate 2.3.1! This update marks a significant step forward in simplifying server monitoring and introduces a host of powerful features designed to streamline your workflow and enhance visibility into your infrastructure.
For those unfamiliar with Checkmate, it’s an open-source, self-hosted tool that allows you to track and monitor server hardware, uptime, response times, and incidents in real-time, all presented with beautiful and intuitive visualizations. We’ve been working hard based on community feedback, and this release addresses some key pain points while adding exciting new capabilities. We’re also incredibly proud to have surpassed 90 contributors and 6.9k stars on GitHub – a testament to the growing Checkmate community!
Key Improvements in 2.3.1 (and 2.3):
This release combines the updates from versions 2.2 and 2.3, delivering a substantial package of improvements:
- Simplified Queue Management: We’ve replaced BullMQ and Redis with Pulse. This change simplifies queue management and resolves many of the issues users were experiencing, resulting in a smoother and more reliable experience.
- Streamlined Notifications: Say goodbye to configuring notifications for each individual monitor. Checkmate 2.3.1 introduces global notification channels. Simply define your notification channels (e.g., Slack, email, PagerDuty) once in the global Notification section, accessible from the sidebar, and then assign those channels to your monitors as needed.
- Comprehensive Incident Overview: The Incidents section now includes a summarized view of all incidents, providing a quick and efficient way to assess and address potential issues.
- Enhanced Status Page Customization: You now have greater control over the information displayed on your status page. Choose whether to include the administrator login link and optionally display the IP address or URL for enhanced context.
- Powerful New Logs Section: A new sidebar dedicated to logs has been added, featuring two essential tabs:
- Job Queue: Monitor all active jobs, such as pings, providing real-time visibility into Checkmate’s operations.
- Server Logs: Access the logs within the Docker container directly within the Checkmate interface, simplifying debugging and troubleshooting.
- PagerDuty Integration: For those requiring more robust alerting, we’ve integrated PagerDuty into our notification system.
- Improved Search Functionality: Quickly locate specific infrastructure monitors with the new search button.
- Bulk Selection for Status Page Servers: Manage multiple status page servers efficiently with the new bulk selection option.
